Warm interior of The Nook Collective literary café with bookshelves, a communal table, and readers

MISSISSAUGA

A literary cultural hub where curious adults come together.

The Nook Collective is a non-profit, purpose-built third space for readers, writers, and free thinkers — designed for community, discovery, and belonging outside of home and work.

Mission

A home for ideas, community, and stories.

The Nook is a literary and cultural hub where free thinkers of all backgrounds gather to explore ideas, build community, and celebrate the power of words and stories together — without judgment or barriers.

Vision

The permanent cultural heartbeat of Mississauga.

Our goal is a flagship space that never goes away, where every person who walks through the door feels like they have come home. A model for community-led literary spaces across the GTA.

A silent reading meetup: readers absorbed in their books around a long shared table

A true third place

Warm, stimulating, and safe all at once.

The Nook occupies a space that does not currently exist in Mississauga. It is a true third place — where the busy parent finds a reward, the intellectual finds a salon, the aspiring writer finds a workshop, and the reader who has never had a room of their own finally finds a home.

  • Community book clubs and open gatherings
  • Ticketed programming, premium events, and workshops
  • Local food and beverage partnerships
  • Studio and programming space for creators

Equity, access & community

Access to intellectual community should not be determined by income or background.

The community is ready

Book clubs, open reading hours, and community gatherings will bring a third space many are desperate for.

The programming is inclusive

Events reflect the full diversity of the Mississauga and surrounding neighbourhoods — across age, background, reading taste, and cultural identity.

The space is safe

Judgment-free by design. Every reader, writer, and storyteller occupies the same room and feels equally welcomed.

Founder

Christine Ojimadu

Christine's career sits at the intersection of storytelling, audience psychology, programming strategy, and business operations — making her uniquely qualified to build a culturally rich, financially sound, and community-rooted space.

The Nook Collective is the convergence of everything she has built across her career and her life — brought home to the community she has called hers for nearly four decades.

Our first experience

One book. New people. Every month. The community votes on what we read, then we shuffle everyone into small groups for spoiler-free first impressions online, followed by an in-person discussion at a local café.
